Our History
Hempstead/Uniondale Times is a
community-based newspaper published on Long Island, New York.
The paper serves the residents of the villages of
Hempstead, Uniondale, and surrounding villages of
Roosevelt, Baldwin, Rockville Centre, Freeport, and Greater New
York.
Our Vision
To be the best community newspaper
with the widest reach through innovation backed by excellent
reporting and delivery of news.
Our Mission
To impact positively on our readers
and society by providing high quality news and information that
promotes knowledge, community, and global unity.
Our Staff
Our staff is a team of
writers/journalists, many of whom with degrees from such schools
as Columbia School of Journalism, The City College of New York,
State University of New York/Old Westbury, University of Ghana,
University of Liberia, University of Minnesota School of
Journalism, University of the West Indies, and other fine
institutions. Our staff has a combined journalistic/writing
career of over 60 years
Our
Publisher/Founder
Mr. Chea, founder/publisher,
bachelor's degree from The City College of New York and a master’s
degree from Teachers College, Columbia University.
He teaches English at Molloy College and has over 20 years’
newspaper experience. Mr. Chea has published widely,
including an interview with the late civil rights advocate,
Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture) in 1981.
