The 8th annual Great Atlanta Beerfest will be held Oct. 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Georgia State Stadium, 755 Hank Aaron Drive. There will be more than 150 beers and a selection of 25-plus wines and ciders to choose from. There will also be live music, DJs, games and food for purchase. Estrella, a Yucatecan-inspired cocktail club and restaurant overlooking the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail, has opened at Common Ground in Poncey-Highland. Housed atop Bazati—an all-day destination for shopping, dining and imbibing—Estrella features an open-air bar, umbrella seating and a list of bubbly and classic Latin cocktails, such as Hemingway daiquiris and pisco sours. Eater Atlanta reports that Atlanta BeltLine founder Ryan Gravel will open a restaurant in the Telephone Factory Lofts along the Eastside Trail. Aftercar is expected to open next spring The “philanthropub” will help fund Gravel’s nonprofit organization, Generator – a civic-based, public think tank for improving cities and communities through workshops and programming.
The owners of Le Bilboquet will open Le Colonial at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta next Spring. The Vietnamese-French restaurant already has locations in Atlanta, San Francisco and Chicago.
Colony Square is teaming up with local breweries to launch Brews in the Sky every Thursday in October from 6 to 8 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to listen to live music, enjoy barbecue from Williamson Bros., and sip on a selection of craft beers served by brewery experts while soaking up breathtaking views of the city from the Colony Square helipad. Chef Craig Richards has been named as the new executive chef at Hampton + Hudson in Inman Park. Richards will work with restaurateur Billy Streck on forthcoming projects to be announced at a later date. He most recently served as executive chef at St. Cecilia and as vice president of culinary operations at Ford Fry Restaurants.
Atlas, located inside the St. Regis Atlanta in Buckhead, is renovating its terrace space to serve as a stand-alone bar and dining destination with chef-driven small plates, cuisine from the dining room, cocktails and live music. The renovated terrace will debut in Spring 2019.
